has been a long time since my latest blog update. I&nbsp; would like to welcome newbies in this beautiful spring season. I am going to introduce you to the antibody test for COVID-19 using blood samples in this blog. There are two methods of detecting antibodies (Anti-S assay and Anti-N assay). If you want to know how many antibodies of COVID-19 by vaccines and past infection you have, you choose the anti-S assay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the report of the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, fifty percent protection from COVID-19 infection was achieved at 17 000 AU\/mL among previously infected participants and 27 000 AU\/mL among infection-naive participants, respectively. The eighty percent protection was achieved at 50 000 AU\/mL among previously infected participants but not among infection-naive participants.<sup> 1) <\/sup>&nbsp;If you want to know whether you have a past infection of COVID-19 within six months, you choose the anti-N assay.<sup> 2)<\/sup> If you wonder if you should get vaccinated against COVID-19 additionally, you may consider doing a blood test for quantitative assessment of anti-S antibody titers. It costs 6000 yen for one test. (It is not covered by health insurance and will be paid at your own expense.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, I let you know the schedule of COVID-19 vaccines which will start on May 8th. If you are over 12 years old, you wait for the additional vaccine until September, except for the person who is 1. over 65 years old, 2. with underlying diseases and 3. health care workers. If you are 5 to 11 years old, you can have an additional vaccine once until the end of August. If children are 5 to 11 years old and have not had the initial vaccine (2 times are needed), they cannot use this additional vaccine. If you are 6 months to 4 years old, the vaccine schedule as the initial vaccine (3 times are needed) has been continued until the end of August. We can provide the COVID-19 vaccination of over 5 years old from May 8th.
